Alright…I updated this blog yesterday, but it didn’t save. ‘Twas a shame, too, because I wrote a lot of shit, but I guess it just wasn’t meant for the world to read.
Let me take a moment to publicly announce my favorites on "Top Model" and "Idol." For TM, I’m rooting for Joanie. I loved Mollie Sue and Leslie, but, fair or not, they are no longer in the game. Please join me in wishing Joanie a speedy recovery from her snaggletooth extraction. Hopefully she’ll emerge even more beautiful than before! Tyra has never picked a blonde, though, and I wonder if UPN would even allow it. Joanie’s got soul, though, so she might break all the rules! As for "Idol," I’m Kellie all the way. Maybe I have a thing for blondes. Anyway, she sang "Fancy," and my other two faves (Melissa and Lisa) are long gone, so what else can I do. I’m still immune to McPheever. Am I the only one who can’t stand her fakeness?? Now, I am all for fakeness if it obviously tries to cover up bitchiness or some sort of evil (a la Kimberly Caldwell of season 2), but in Katherine’s case, there is nothing beyond the fake.
Oh, this week Brian and I celebrated six months of togetherness! Who could have guessed what was waiting for me at dollar drink night on the eve of Yom Kippur? In honor of this, I added a photo of us to my profile.
Last night, I saw "She’s The Man." It was good!! I’ll even say it was hella funny! If you don’t get a chance to see it in the theater, it is definitely worth renting! There’s this one really bitchy girl who is a Lindsay Lohan look-alike. I’d dare say she was even better than Lindsay! I used to hate on Amanda Bynes for her crappy TV shows, for acting like she’s better than Hilary and Lindsay because she doesn’t go out, and for "What a Girl Wants" which is shitty, but I won’t hate on her anymore.

is over. School starts up again tomorrow. It’s been a pretty good break. I went back to Hercules for a hot second to see my sister and parents and kitties. For reasons unknown to me, the kitties were not so thrilled by my visit. I came home with three scratches from each of the three cats. Tinkerbell got my hand while Ethel left a long red line on my neck. Blossom actually gave me a swollen black eye when she attacked my face! She bit and scratched me below my eye, and I woke up the next day looking like I had "walked into a door." The worst thing was that I was telling her how much I love her right before she lashed out. Best believe I took those words back. On the bright side, the scab on my face gives me a rough look.
I got the most recent Lindsay Lohan album and am obsessed with that "Confessions" song. She does a cover of Stevie Nicks’ "Edge of Seventeen" which is awesome! The rest of the album is aight. Other recent acquisitions: "Curb Your Enthusiasm," Season Four and "The Simple Life: Interns." Nicole is seriously my new hero (move over, Mandy). My favorite moment is when she gives bronzer to a six-year-old boy as a going away gift. She does it in such a way that he’s really excited and touched by it. What’s so great about her is that she doesn’t have some awesome talent or extreme good looks. She’s just a normal person with a hilarious personality, a fun outlook on life, and great clothes.
I picked up my old juggling balls while at home. I’d forgotten how meditative juggling is. It clears my head and relaxes me like nothing else. I’m mastering the art of behind-the-back catching, but it is not easy! I’ll never give up, though.
One last thing, and this will be the end of my most materialistic blog entry to date, I got a new used mini-disc player through a shady craigslist deal. It works well so far! The guy drove all the way from Yuma, Arizona to make the exchange, and I’m pretty sure his fuel costs for the trip exceeded what I paid. Let me just say that it is so wonderful to have music for my bike ride to work. Much better than just thinking of songs and singing them to myself. That gets old quickly.
TTFN!

sometimes I hide. Rediscover classic Britney! You’ll be glad you did.
Sorry it’s been so long since my last post. School has been just CRAZY! Luckily I’m doing well in my classes, and my two least favorites are ending tomorrow then it’s Spring Break! It’s not gonna be "Guys Gone Wild" for me. It’ll be more like "Guys Rest and Relax!"
I got new wheels! No, I didn’t break down a get a car like many predicted. I have a new bike. The brakes on my old one went out which made for a thrilling ride home. Brian lent me his nice mountain bike for an indefinite period of time. I’ll tell you, it’s like switching from a Pinto to a Benz! I love it. The ride is so smooth and easy.
Shit, I gotta go to work! Can’t wait to see what kind of sandwich drama awaits me over there!

Olympic Fever, that is. Last night was the Ladies’ Short Program, and my girl, Sasha, tore it up!! She’s first! I’m so excited for her. I was rooting for her in 2002 so I’m glad she’s in such a good position now. But, she was in the top three going into the free skate then and ended up in fourth. You can watch her program from last night as well as her routines from Salt Lake City here. She’s so fun to watch! Mostly I like her for how she exploits her flexibility and how she doesn’t act all sweet like those other bitches. The other week, someone asked her how she felt about Michelle Kwan not skating, and she said something to the effect of "I don’t give a fuck."
So I’m really doing school the ghetto way. I got all my books from shady vendors on Amazon, and they’re all past editions of the class texts with marker all over them and torn pages. Yesterday, I tried to do the assigned problems from the book, but my chapters are different from the current edition, so I just had to kind of guess which problems to do. I did a few extra just to improve the odds that I did the right ones. He doesn’t collect them, though, we just go over them in class.
Brian comes back from Europe today! He’s been gone for a week and a half in Amsterdam and Paris. While it’s been nice having use of his car, I like it better when he’s here to drive me around.
Yesterday, I bought my third computer monitor from somebody off of Craigslist. Let’s hope this one lasts. The first one I got lasted almost five months. The second one worked for about two seconds. This time I tested it before I took it home. Why didn’t I think of that before?? Shout out to Ben who let me know that you can’t just put a monitor in the trash. I took them to the recycling center where I met some weird characters. This one old man was putting on a stand-up comedy show for everyone in line. He told me a funny saying about why Italians and Greeks look alike, but I can’t remember it. He was full of funny sayings. He also told me that newspaper is the big recycling moneymaker. Some lady asked me how much it costs to drop off a monitor. I was like, "it’s free." She was all, "WHY is it free?!!?" Damn, simmer down, woman. Anyhoo, I found out yesterday that there is a $6 charge added when you buy a new TV/monitor to cover the recycling costs.
To all you Frenchies out there, make sure to check out the DVD of "Beauty Shop" and set the language to French. It’s hilarious! "C’est parce que je suis black…parce que je suis black!" The woman who dubs for Queen Latifah sounds like a 70-year-old heavy smoker. Don’t miss it!

Hey Y’all,
I’m leaving for work in a few minutes, but I’m afraid that it’s going to start raining while I’m on my bike. Wouldn’t that suck?? The sky looks clear, but the forecast is scattered showers. I was thinking of taking the bus, but then I realized that I could just as easily get rained on waiting for it. On the other hand, I could hold an umbrella while waiting, but I didn’t think of that and now it’s too late for the bus.
This week, I’ve been obsessed with "I Got You Babe." It’s the most romantic song ever! The only song I can think of that comes close is "She’s In Love With the Boy" by Trisha Yearwood. That song is really sweet, too.
So last night I went out to a straight bar in the Gaslamp district (which is the downtown going out area). It was the first time I’d been to a bar there, and I think the first straight bar I’ve been to since I moved to San Diego. It was actually fun! There was some banquet for all of these high school aged, gorgeous kids. They looked straight out of "Laguna Beach." I was like, "Kristen!" God, I love Kristen. It wasn’t her, though. One guy at the bar kept calling other people "Tosser." As in, "c’mon, you fucking tosser!" Gross, huh!?
I don’t know why I’m blogging when I should be brushing my teeth and fixing my hair for work. People need their croissants! Alright, I’m going. My big plans for the near future include working on a school project and seeing the new dance documentary, "Ballets Russes." Check it out!

Well, it has been one doozie of a week. Jesus had to take the wheel more than a few times. Luckily I made it through, and now I’m stronger than yesterday! It started last Sunday when the unthinkable happened at work. Someone came in my restaurant and stole my tips out of the tip jar, as well as my sandwich (it was waiting for me on the bar!). The dirty bum only took $15-20, but being a victim of theft is traumatic no matter the amount.
Fast forward to my tooth problems on Wednesday night. It was the first time in a long time that physical pain brought me to tears! After lots and lots and lots and lots of suffering, I was finally able to secure a bottle of pain pills on Friday after work. Best believe this has been a pleasant weekend! Tomorrow morning, I see the dentist, so hopefully he’ll fix everything.
Shout out to Tiffany! I saw her musical, "Nunsense," on Friday night, and it was GOOD! Who knew that singing nuns could make for such a funny and entertaining show! The cast was all really great, but Tiff stole the show with an interpretive dance that told the story of a hungry nun who eats bad fish and dies (too bad she wasn’t a vegan nun!). It was opening night so we got to take part in the post-performance champagne and cake reception. Today, I saw one of the nuns from the show displaying very un-nun-like behavior, drinking and screaming out the window of a dive bar in Hillcrest.
Last night, Brian and I celebrated Valentine’s Day early because he’s going away this week. We saw a romantic, gay-themed cabaret downtown that included an awesome jazz trio and a comedy duo. It was awesome! I guess this weekend has been a good one for entertainment. Now, "The Color Purple" is on TV so it just keeps on coming! "It ain’t worth it…it ain’t worth it."
That’s all I’ve got for tonight.

I used to think Hell was Pilates class. Alas, no. This is Hell. I am there. I have a horrible toothache (more like a mouthache) that will not let me sleep…and I’m tired! It all started last night at chorus practice. We were singing "Dov’e L’Amore," and the pain started. I thought maybe I just had food stuck between my teeth so I grabbed my floss (yes, I keep floss in my backpack…yes, I carry a backpack) and ran to the bathroom. Anyway, it felt better then worse then better then worse. Not too long after I got home, I put on my pj’s and got into bed, but could barely concentrate on my ritual bedtime sudoku!
To make a long story short, I feel like the girl in the Freddy Kruger movies because every time I fall asleep, I’m later awaken by horrible pain. The last time was so intense that I’ve decided to stay up so that I can continuously apply Orajel until the dentist office opens. Freddy’s in my mouth! By the way, I saw part of "Freddy Vs. Jason" starring Beyonce’s sidekick and adopted sister, Kelly Rowland, and she was good! Kelly can act rings around B. If you saw "The Fighting Temptations," though, you’d see how that’s not too hard to do.
AAAAAA!!! This sucks so much! Don’t worry, though. I’m sure I’ll be fine. Just channel a little healing energy my way if you get a chance!

No, I haven’t been reborn. I’m just obsessed with that Carrie Underwood song. Yeah, it’s corny. Sure, she preaches. But it’s also powerful and catchy. Both Brian and my roommate have had to endure that song on endless repeat, but I think they’re better for it. Check out launch to watch the video or smashits to listen to the song. The video takes the song to another level, and it brought a tear to mine eye! The message, as I see it, is that sometimes it’s too much to worry about everything in life, and that’s when you should let go and surrender to a higher power. So now, that’s my new favorite expression.
I went to karaoke the other night and sang my previous two favorite songs (see 1/29 blog entry). My rendition of "Fancy" wasn’t too bad, if I may comment on it. That is a long song with a lot of verses. Actually, when I sang "Just Like Jesse James," someone commented that it was a long song. It’s really not very long at all, but it must have felt long with me singing it, but I don’t care. It’s nowhere near my key, and I just needed to get it out of my system. Jesus, take the wheel! I almost didn’t go out because I had to be at work extra early the next morning, but I decided to let Jesus take the wheel and not let pastries rule my existence…and I was glad I did.
Did everyone have a good Groundhog Day on Thursday? Mine was very repetitive! We had class presentations in one of my business courses, and each group presented on the exact same topic so I had to listen to the same bullshit eleven times. Best believe I was ready to let go of the wheel that day! If you hadn’t heard, the groundhog did see his shadow so we’ll have 6 more weeks of winter. And for all y’all who might scoff that there isn’t winter in San Diego, I say "au contraire." It gets effing chilly over here! Some wonder why it is that we have more winter when he sees his shadow. Well, when he doesn’t see his shadow because of cloudiness, it’s a sign that the showers of spring are upon us!
Tonight I’m going to see the new horror movie, "When A Stranger Calls." It’s supposed to be good so I’m really excited!

It’s Wednesday, but I feel like the week is over. Working the weekend really throws my schedule off!
Don’t you sometimes wish your heart was made of stone?
I took a ballet class at the studio on Monday and then my class at school yesterday. I feel like I have two left feet in the studio class because it’s so advanced. Plus, the teacher repeats combinations from past weeks so when I attend once every two months, it makes it very hard to follow. Conversely, I feel like Barishnykov in my school ballet class. It’s seriously basic which would be annoying if that were the only class I was taking, but it makes for a nice balance with the hardcore classes at the studio.
I’ve decided to crash the Match Day at UCSD Med School. Match Day is this crazy ceremony where 4th-year med students around the country simultaneously open envelopes telling where they’ll be going for their residency. Suri says that some people will be cheering and others will be crying. I can’t think of a better way to spend a day! It’s in March, btw.
My classes are going okay, thanks for asking. At first, I thought they all sucked, but now I only think one of them sucks. It’s like Meatloaf says, two out of three ain’t bad. The one that sucks is only a half-semester class, anyway, so only 6 more weeks! I put together my very first powerpoint presentation yesterday. It doesn’t have animation or cool effects, but I did import a few pictures! Rome wasn’t built in a day, you know.
Have you ever heard that song, "Rome Wasn’t Built in a Day," by Morcheeba? It’s a bomb-ass song that I haven’t heard in years! Well, actually one year, now that I think about it. They played it a few times at the devil-owned, pan-Asian restaurant I worked at last year. I guess every dark cloud has a silver lining.
Alright, that’s enough fluff for a Wednesday.

It’s Sunday afternoon! The sun is shining outside, but I just have to update before I go back outside. I worked today and yesterday which wasn’t too bad, but it definitely sucks getting up early on the weekend. The funny thing about my restaurant is that it’s a few blocks away from a prison downtown so we get colorful characters every so often. They’re not shy about doing time, either! This guy today volunteered that he just served for violating his parole. Had I been thinking about you, loyal readers, I would’ve probed for more information, but I’m sorry. Next time!
My two favorite songs this weekend are "Fancy" by Reba and "Just Like Jesse James" by Cher. Shout out to Leia for introducing me to Reba. That’s right, from now on I’m going to link my shout outs! Get ready for some fun! Anyway, as usual, I’m too broke to actually buy these songs so I found places to listen to them online. One site is just too good to keep to myself. It’s smashits (with one "H") where you can listen online to songs and album by most pop artists for FREE. Not snippets or samples either, you get the entire songs! Reba isn’t there, but there’s always fancyreba
Last night was the chorus new member social. It was fun. There was karaoke, but they didn’t have my songs. I ended up singing "Dancing Queen" by mistake. It wasn’t my best turn.
Now, I’m going up to North Park to see my favorite Queer Eye, Ted, give a lecture and sign books. I was hesitant to go because I’m sure he’ll be talking a lot about preparing dead animal (aka meat), but I’m so celebrity-starved! I’m going to wear the green jacket my mom just gave me that says "There’s plenty to eat without choosing meat." I know that’s a lot for a jacket, but whatever. Anyway, it’ll be my second time meeting him. Shout out to Jeff who got me into a swanky Chicago charity event two years ago where Ted was a special guest.
That’s all. I’ve got a day off tomorrow! I’m going to go to an event with the accounting club at SDSU! My rock star livin’ is gonna catch up with me one of these days!
