Welcome INN
There’s a motel down the street called the Welcome INN. Isn’t that awesome?? I’m going to tell my parents to stay there when they visit.
A lot of people ask me how I fill my days since I don’t have a job (yet) and school hasn’t started. Well, it varies, but the bulk of today and yesterday were spent poring over a website I rediscovered, www.annieorphans.com From a very young age, it has been my dream to be an orphan in Annie, and the closest I ever came was playing FDR in the Pinole Young Actors Production. I used to watch the movie over and over as a child, and later as a college student (with some prompting by Leia). My dad thought I’d have danced the role of the gardener well (We Got Annie!), but I always wanted to be Tessie or maybe Annie. Anyway, this website has all sorts of articles, bios, video and audio clips from the Broadway production, as well as National Tours. I found early pics and bios of former orphans Alyssa Milano, Molly Ringwald, and SJP. There’s even a video of Alyssa doing "You’re Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile." The best is a video called something like "Growing Up On Broadway" in which former orphans talk about menstration. I learned that there was a line drawn on the wall, and once an orphan got as tall as the line, she was shuffled out and replaced. One former orphan is making a documentary called "Life After Tomorrow" which will show how being in the production shaped the lives of over 40 former orphans. I can’t wait!
I have to get dressed. My new friend, Ben, invited me to a gay, Jewish, singles happy hour event. Sounds like fun!
