More about my hair

Friday, September 2nd, 2005

My Mini-Glide detangling flat iron arrived this morning! They said it would take five to seven business days, but it only took three! While the first attempt at using it didn’t result in shiny, "bone straight" hair like on the infomercial, it did give me awesome spikes and body that blow drying can’t deliver. I wish I could watch the instructional DVD, but I don’t have a DVD player yet. I’m going to try again after I go to the gym.

Last night I went to the beach with Tiffany and her husband. They let me borrow a wetsuit, surfboard, and towel! Brian gave me good surfing tips, and I stood up a bunch of times! The water wasn’t cold at all either! It was awesome bouncing in the water while the sun was setting in front of us. My cousin from Philadelphia says that you haven’t seen a sunset until you’ve seen a California sunset, and he might be right. Best of all was seeing Tiffany and laughing like we used to.

Jay came by this morning. He’s training for the Chicago marathon and likes to run in my neighborhood. He says it’s because it’s flat, but I think it’s because it’s gay. He took me to the store.

Right now, I’m cooped up inside waiting for my bed delivery. It should come within the next two and a half hours! I’m so excited for my bedroom to be complete! Yesterday, I got all sorts of organizational products, and now my closet is perfect and most of my unpacking clutter is gone. The one thing I need that I don’t have is a set of sheets.

So this weekend, I’m going back up to Hercules. My parents are going away so I will cat-sit and see my friends who are visiting SF. I’m excited, but I have people to call so I’d better wind up this update! Later!

Because of You

The new Kelly Clarkson song "Because of You" is the greatest song ever. Since I have neither her CD nor a CD player, I found a website where you can listen to it for free. It’s www.kellyclarksonfan.com Check it out! Yesterday, I wrote down the lyrics to it and sang them to myself while taking the bus and trolley to the IKEA. It wasn’t as entertaining as I hoped it would be, and I found myself wishing I’d brought a book or iPod, but now I know all the words so it wasn’t for nothing.

I’m still on New York time so I went to bed at ten and woke up at six. My roommate invited me to a sushi party tonight at ten, so I’m going to have to nap. Actually, my day is pretty packed. I’m going shopping with Jay at noon and then to the beach with Tiffany and her boo at six. I also need to buy a wetsuit and go to the gym before all that. This doesn’t leave much time for napping, but I’ll do my best.

When I went to Jersey City Pride on Saturday, there was a girl who swore she knew me which was weird because I swore I knew her, too. She was pretty sure we had met at a party for Shekky, but I don’t know who the hell Shekky is and I sure as shit don’t remember being at his party. So this morning on the radio they said something about a rapper named Lil Shekky or something, and it hit me how I knew this girl: gymnastics at Chelsea Piers. I called our mutual friend, my former hair guy (the one who gave me the relaxer), and told him, but he didn’t know if she was a gymnast or not. He said he’d ask her. I was really hoping he’d be like "yeah, she was always talking about that gymnastics class" so that I could have some closure on this. Now a little part of me isn’t sure if that’s really how I know her, and it’s really frustrating!
